Gravely trans. problem???

I have a 1996 Gravely 36 in. belt drive mower I use about 5 times a week, for gated back yards. Today I was go up a driveway apron with the mower and the mower jerked to a stop, and the belt from the engine to the trans. started burning up. I s this an easy fix or should I order a new trans. ? Thanks,... Tim

is the trans. locked up or is it a idler pulley I had a stick that got between the belt and pulley that done the same thang
