need suggestions for 95% shade. customer wants 6-7 foot trees, the only thing i come up with are hemlocks. ideas?

Cornus florida, Cornus kuosa, Cercis canadensis, Crataegus spp.

Basically anything that is an "understory" tree should do fine. Japanese maples can survive in shade too.

Just don't expect a "shade" type of tree to grow there!

when you go to buy the formentioned trees...try to get less dense trees. kind of like a pear tree dense. some growers will prune stock for a compact, large caliper, resource hogging tree. try to find less dense with larger branches. if any dense tree, even meant for shade, actually is planted, alot of leaves will drop and by the second year the little twiggies that packed the middle will all be dead.

serviceberry will take shade quite well.
