Well actually it isn't a lawn yet. A week ago I had a landscaper re-seed. He used a 'seed-a-vator' which seemed to loosen our clay soil effectively, seeded, and fertilized. A nice layer of hay was used to mulch. I watered the next two days to keep things moist. Sunday we had a heavy/steady rain. I skipped watering Monday and Tuesday since the yard was still wet from the rain(feet sink into mud when walking across the yard). I know you need to keep the seedlings moist for them to grow, but I don't plan on watering until the surface is no longer muddy.

I guess my question is, how much is enough?

Thanks. Nice forum.

Dave

As long as the watering doesn't "wash" the soil and seed away, I dont think you can water seed too much. I would just make sure to keep the seed/soil moist until it starts to germinate.
