I friend of mine has one. He used it all last year. This year he tried my Stihl BR400 and then he went out and bought one. The Robin stays in the shop now.

Is this it? http://www.wiproducts.com/outdoor/fl500.html The air volume seems a little low. It could be wrong though, that site also says my nearest dealer is in South Bend Indiana. Quite a haul from central Florida.

Keith, I've not had a problem with the air volume...It's alot better than the new Shindaiwa blowers..The Shindaiwa seems to be taking the same path as the homelite products..Before long you'll be able to buy them at Wal-mart...I know there are probably better blowers out there than the Robin but I haven't found one.Any suggestions will be appreciated..I've looked at the Stihl and Husquavarna blowers but still went with the Robin..I think John Deere makes a blower but I've not seen it....Thanks...Clean-Cut..

That picture Keith posted looks exactly like the Dolmar backpack blower I bought which is actually made by Makita. Yeah, I know...I was interested in the Tanaka, but my dealer talked me into the "Dolmar". So far no complaints as it works well for what I need it for.

Robin makes the Makita-Dolmar units.
They also for a brief time made the Green Machine by John Deere units.
I sold these units for years, and can only recall one problem, a broken choke control, and that was because the unit was dropped, but we warrantied it anyways.

i have a robin blower....and it does not even compare to my new shindaiwa eb630,i think the robin is fine for blwing off a sidewalk, but for cleanups the robin is not even close to the power of the other,i started with robin blowers and robin weed wackers, and in my opinion they were a BIG waste of money.

I wouldn't even think of trying to use a backpack blower for a cleanup as once the leaves get to any depth the only thing that is gonna move them is a push blower (i.e. billygoat, little wonder, etc.). Actually this was the first season I didn't even really perform a cleanup as I mulched everything!!!! (Thanks Eric!!!) I definitely would not call it a waste of money however, but everyone is due their own opinion.

You have got to be kidding me! Are you talking about Shindaiwa handheld blowers? We now have two Shindaiwa EB630's backpacks and they are the best blower we have used. We used Stihls for 7 years, so there must be something to them. The only similarity between it and a Homelite is they are both red. Shindaiwa products in general have been the most reliable machines we have used, I don't expect to find them at WalMart.

I agree with Keith. I have a Shindiawa EB630 and it is the best blower I have ever had. I have used Green Machine (crap) and Echo PB400. It blows them out of the water. I have a Robin trimmer and it is light and powerful, but the dang thing is short. A Kawasaki trimmer is going to be my next choice. I think Shindaiwa and Red Max are probably the most powerful backpack blowers around.

Who makes the Redmax blowers...??I've never seen one before..I shouldn't have downed Shindaiwa since I don't have one...I might have to test drive one..It seems like the dealers around here are not really recommending the shindaiwa products..Thanks...Clean-Cut

Most of the blowers mentioned are premium quality and the ONLY thing that would sway me one way or the other is (in no certian order)(1) PRICE PRICE PRICE (2 )Availability in my area (3 )Reputation and reliability of the dealer(s) offering the brands and last (4 ) EASE OF PARTS AVAILIBILITY.
The ease of getting parts is usually not considered by many when buying power equipment. This is the ONLY negative thing I have ever heard about REDMAX.(Their cost is also inflated over other brands here in NC, at least)
In short, I would buy what I could get the best deal on from the best servicing dealer in my area.

My Echo blows harder than my Robin (both are hand-held). Also, the robin is made of more brittle plastic, and parts are a little harder to get (still waiting for a new gas tank cap)

I demo'd the Shindawa and can tell you it WILL be my next blower, even if I have to drive 100 miles to get it. There is no comparison between it and my Stihl or Echo backpack. I haven't tried the Redmax or Robin but don't think I would anyway after using the Shindawa. It was just plain BAD!!!!!!!!

HOMER -- if you demoed the Shindawia, then you demoed a Redmax. They make the Shindawia blower. I have the Redmax, and I'm like you... I'd never want anything with less power. It's like having a small motorcycle engine on your back!

I can't recall the model # !!!!!!!!!!! I can tell you it was around $460.00. I assumed it was the top of the line model. I did not realize it was a Redmax in disguise. I know the dealer(who is now out of business) told me it would move a red brick across the parking lot so I had to demo it for myself, I think it would have blown my BR400 across the parking lot, with me in it! Nobody in my town carries the blowers or I could be more help to you, the dealer sold that one before shutting down.

HOLD THE PHONE!!!!!!!!!!!!! I knew those PRO mags would be of some good, it was the EB630, Ya dats da sweethart!!!!

Maybe one day my old puffers will give up the ghost and that will give me an excuse to spend the money. Until then..................just memories!

I have heard that Shindaiwa made the Red Max motors, but it makes more sense that the Red Max makes Shindaiwa motors since Red Max had the first Back Pack blower in the 60cc range. I bought the Red Max 62cc before Shindaiwa came out with their 63cc blower. If Redmax makes these motors, why would they build a motor for Shindaiwa that had one more cc to out do their line? None of this makes sense once I try to analize it.
What I originally heard is that Shindaiwa made the trimmer motors for Red Max, but I didn't hear anything about the blowers. Does anyone really know for sure?

I think I read here that Redmax allowed Shindaiwa to use their blower in exchange for Shindaiwa allowing them to market the sweeper.

Look pretty similar don't they :D

The power heads are similar but other than that they don't look anything alike other than they are both red and black.

The only thing I noticed was the blower housing was black on the Shindaiwa and the air cleaner cover was black on the Redmax. The gas tank is slightly different. What else is different? I must be on crack

I know this thread is old but for future reference if anybody is thinkin about the Robin blowers remember this..

I have 14 sitting on 3 shelves with the same problem ... they all have less than 6 mths use and lose fuel pressure after 30 - 60 secs.... I have even sent one back to Robin to have them look at it ... they tightened the case bolts, replaced the reed gasket and carb gasket and it worked fine for about 6 weeks... now its back in the shop with the SAME problem ...

stay away... stay very far away ... i'm picking up some BR600's today...

Are you including the big 75cc blower which is the same as the Dolmar 7601 and Makita big blower too? I read a lot of good comments about this one.

actually, Dolmar 7601.4 is made by Dolmar in Germany. Robin 7500 is a Dolmar tuned down. robin is an import company, thats all they do. check their web site. says so in the "about us" section. they don't make anything of their own. makita 7600 is also a tuned down Dolmar 7601.4. check their specs. why would a company build a unit for someone else that would out preform their own?
