Leak near the spark plug

It sounds like your looking at the carburator vent tube.

I also have a leak near the spark plug. Oil is slowly seeping out somewhere near the sparkplug and near the OHV plate. Any ideas?

The leak is a tough call. There's a good chance that the leak is farther up, possibly even topside of the engine and flowing down to the area where you spotted the leak. My advice would be to have a qualified tech take a look at it just to make sure, keep the cooling fins as clean as possible and check the oil frequently until you get the problem diagnosed.
