View Full Version : aerification pricing

I am curious about a couple things as far as aerification pricing:
(this is with a normal Ryan Lawn Aire walk behind aerator)

1 - what is the average minimum for aerification?

2 - what is the normal rate per 1000 sq. ft for aerification?

3 - what is the average difference in pricing between just aerification and aerification with overseeding?

Thanks for the replies!!!

another pricing question that may differ from one market to the next.

we charge $10 per 1000sf to aerate- we then add an additional $50 as a service fee. So for a 10,000sf lawn- $10 X 10= $100 + $50= $150

aeration/overseed we charge $25 per 1000sf- then add in an additional $100 as a service fee. So for 10,000sf - $25 X 10= $250 + $100 + $350.

Here the charge is about 35 to 40 for the first thousand and ten to fifteen for the next thousand.

I sub contract my aerations out, so I can tell you what he charges.

$45.00 up to 4,000 sq/ft, and $12.00 each 1,000 after that.

He also charges extra if the property has underground sprinklers, so he can take the time to flag the sprinkler heads.

For an over seed after, I would do that and I charge from $10 to $20 a 1,000 depending on the quality of seed they decide to go with.

Hope it helps

Thanks for the replies, they are very helpful!!

It seems like an over seed is charged at a rate significantly higher than just a regular aerification. I know it depends on the quality of the seed, but isn't most residential turf seed of any quality relatively inexpensive. Also, I guess I am under the impression that it just doesn't take too long to spread the seed.

Considering this, is an Aerification AND Overseed one of the higher profit services........or am I way off??

Thanks again

Over-seeding with an acceptable rate of TTF will cost you $5-7 / M. Compare that to applying fertilizer and weed controls at under $1 / M. You need to charge more than your regular application charge.....

Aeration/overseeding can be quite profitable if you bill it right.

Just a friendly word of advice. Its AERATION, not aerification.

On our aeration and overseeding we charge $3.50 a lb for the seeding. So the really thin lawns get seeded at 4-5 lbs per K and the not so thin are around 2-3lbs per K, customer pay for what they get.

Our Min for aeration is $125 that does up to 5k, Some call this a service or stop fee, then we add $12 per K after that.

Min price would be around 60.00 for just an aeration. 25.00 per 1000 sq ft for core and seed. I would also recommend a double core with any seeding but that is just me. I think it a good idea to charge extra for the sprinklers also and be careful of dog fences!
good luck!
