Most of the time, we won't touch a blade of grass before 8:30 am.
Mostly because of the morning dew, but also so we don't get any complaints.

My crew meets at6:30 am and load for the day along with discussing their routes with them and general conversation time with one another. My commercial routes leave around 7:00 as it is best to get these places before 9:00 when they open due to cars being there as insurance claims.lol

My residential crews are instructed not to start any equipment before 8:00 am unless I know my client works night shifts and is going to be in bed at this time. We try and accomidate our customers and discuss this with them when they first use my service. A good relationship is essential between you and your clients. If this is formed when the new guy tries to under bid you, you will still have a faithful client. Always get to know your client and earn their respect, after all You work for THEM!!!

Residential - 8 am IF we have cleared it with the customer before hand. Some of our customers prefer we wait until 9 am on, I try to accomodate them if I can. Also, check your city ord's. We can't start power equipment in residential areas before 7:30 am. Some of our commercial accounts are located in "residential sections" of town.

Due to laws here I cant start before 9, I'm going after commercial accounts to go do them earlier (start at 7) to better fill in the day.

I used to start at 8am, but now I find it better to start at 9am (gives the lawns some time to dry out)
When we used to cut residenitals at 8am not too many customers were happy about it

I pull out of the driveway in order to pull up to the first clients house at 8 am. Then it's out of the truck and mowing at 8:01 am.

Too much dew around here most times.
I start at 9 or so. If I start earlier, I waste too much time scraping wet gunk off the underside of the decks.
It might just be these Scag mower decks though.
