Is there any special thing about pruning dogwoods? Just curious really. I have a customer that is going to prune his own, thought I might offer some advice. Thanks, Tony

basically they are a pain in the ass. just how they grow.
long branches with not alot of foliage. branches dont alternate much either, they branch like a lilac or vibernum- oppisite making most cuts deep cuts.

Dogwoods don't like heavy pruning; if you do, they heavily sucker.
If you must pruning, take off as little as possible to maintain shape. If your customer wants to make a big tree into a little tree, it won't work. If it's "nice tree / wrong place", cut it down and put in a size appropiate tree in its place.
