i havent mustered the courage to try your type of sock. i use the chinese fingers.

how do you like it? what about pulling wires?

Tie the wire to the chain and knot it.

I like socks for short pulls and use a bullet in rough terrain such as roots, rocks or for any lengthy pull.

It's more laborious to put on and cut off the pipe, in addition to the clamp, for a standard bullet so the sock is good for when you can.

You guys need to try the King Grip by King Products, its the only way to pull pipe. We Pull 1.5", 2", and 2.5" pvc with the King grip with a 3" bullet out front. We also use blades that have wire shoots that can handle up to (20) 14 guage wires. We use this setup with Burkeens, Maxi Sneaker and Case DH4

What is the make and model of your puller/trencher? What kind of price range have you seen on used units?

The machine appears to be a Vermeer LM-40. They're solid. I prefer a Maxi/Mini duo.

we are purchasing a used ditchwitch 410 with trailer for $28k...machine has 47 hours and has trencher, vibratory plow and boring unit.

we also have a vermeer lm-40 that is incredible. we plan to purchase a lm-42 next season if all goes well. or if the ditchwitch performs like the vermeer i will purchase a machine to replace our burkeen b-30.
