pond question

Here is my situation. I have successfully bid on a full landscape,irrigation and water feature. The home is supplied with a potable water line as well as a seporate irrigation line that delivers about 10 gpm. Unfortunately there is some existing landscaping that was improperly designed and I am revamping the system to operate on the lower gpms. Ok, here is the problem. The pond must be plumbed with the irrigation water. A float valve will automatically fill the pond as needed due to evaporation. How can I assure that the pond doesn't fill while the sprinklers are in operation thus adding to the low pressure issues? Would you consider a booster pump inline above all this mess? Manually filling pond as needed isn't an option nor is using any of the house water in the landscape.

I'm not an irrigation guy, but I'll take a stab. How about making the pond fill line it's own zone? If the float valve is mechanical, it will stay open when the water level drops, and the fill line will fill when that zone's time comes up. You would want to make sure that the zone is programmed long enough to fill the pond adequately.

I'd say give it a zone too.

Or not have it hooked up at all.
