View Full Version : Let's go aerator shopping

Time to start budgeting for a fall aerator purchase.
I just don't want to rent anymore, and haven't been thrilled about the Bluebirds, Ryans and Classens I've used.
Saw an ad in a trade mag (which I have lost) about a "steerable" type machine which seemed like an improvement over the big 3 mentioned above.
My purchase would be a stand alone machine (not Z mounted)
Some pro and cons from aerator users?

Was the one you were looking at called the PLUGR?

Plug'r made by Rock Solid is the only way to go. You can knock out about an acre an hour and not even break a sweat. I don't know how I survived without mine.

How much are you wanting to spend? Classen is coming out with a stand-up model. It has a ztr while the spoons are lifted. Goes 4.3 mph and does more than 50K sq ft an hour.

forget the classen at 4.5 mph the Z PLUGER is the way to go 8mph very dependable and you can get a spreader mounted on there and overseed at the same time the also have a 20 gallon spray system that will work on the machine. the Zspray and the Zpluger are the best machines out there by far.

Can the Z spray and Z plugger be combined into 1 machine?

Who makes the Z Plugger?

The Z plugr is made by Rock Solid I beleive. I was wondering if anyone has used these units commercially and how durable they are. Seem to be quite maneuverable.

The Z spray and the Z plug are made by a different company than the Rock Solid Plugr.

I bet you can pull this with the zspray, the chassis and engine are the sane,

Or if you already have a ztr, this system works great for me.

The aerator is from lesco,( $1500.00 ) the spreader is the truckster ( $350 )

That mower ( stander ) is so easy to maneuver around lawns I never bring my walk behind bluebird with me.

Ive heard stories about the zplugger getting stuck alot and it runs over the holes which is not good for over seeding.

Im in West Boylston, just north of worcester, Where you at?

That system worked awsome for me, until I sold my mowing business along with all my standers, Now I rent one back from the company that bought my business.

I was considering buying a stander just to pull my aerator, and mow my lawn, but I think the zspray would do just as good a job as the stander, and I can replace one of my PG's with it.

I am also considering a Kubota bx2200 tractor, that has a 3 point hitch , if you look closely to the aerator, its a 3 point hitch aerator, that just has a long bar attached to pull behind. Then I could get a vicon and save some time on the large commerical properties I do.
