I have a customer who would like to have a 4 acre lot sowed in winter rye. The purpose is to green it up because it's for sale. Is it to late to sow any annual rye? I don't plan on any aeration. This property is a commercial site. Location N. Alabama. Local temperatures between 20-60 F.
any help would be appreciated.
Thank you,

You may have some luck with winter rye,, i've planted it as late as Dec. 30 ..i'm in central Ga.
Rem it still needs water to germ.

I think we'll have enough warm days left to germinate the seed. I put some out last Friday.

I think it will germinate if you scalp the yard as short as you can and collect the clippings this will allow the seed to make contact with the soil for better germination and fertilize

I use winter rye even into february in my hydro seeding business. No problem with germination, even when spraying over existing turf. I am in Southeast Georgia.
