Guido,
this isn't meant as a wise crack so don't take it that way but ... while you and the other guys are over at Bill Fagan's ... ask them if they'll contribute $75.00 each (three guys shown on that site) to Chuck's vacation fund ... hey I'm just doing my job marketing on this. I'd do it myself but I feel a little shy about it.
Phil Nilsson
Guido:
I couldn't help notice that this is at least the second thread you've started extolling the virtues of Mr. Phagan.
They seem to appear in direct proportion to the amount of attention Mr. Nilsson is getting at the time - good or bad.
Coincidence?
Are you receiving remuneration from Mr. Phagan or is this an attempt to rally the troops against Nilsson....kind of rubbing his nose in it?
If it's the former, come clean now. If the latter, forget it. Nilsson's hot property right now - possibly the best friend LawnSite has got.

Hi Ed,
Guido is an okay guy, he's just trying to help out because Bill Phagan really does have some good stuff to offer. Lots of new people are coming into the business, and there really aren't that many consultants to go round ... that's why LawnSite is so important. People just coming into the bizz or in for a while, often can't afford formal consulting help, but they can certainly get good advice at this site ... and it doesn't cost them a dime, yet it can save them hundreds if not thousands!
Having said all that .. is why I'm appealing to each and every LawnSite user to make a pledge for Chuck's vacation fund. Chuck's not a rich guy, makin ends meet like the rest of us ... but you have to understand that Chuck spends his money keeping this site going and asks nothing in return ... yeah maybe someday he'll get more support but in the meanwhile ...
The guy could use a break. You know, just a little recognition and special thanks for making this site possible ...
What can you do?
Well I hate to put it this way ... but show some appreciation, a little payback call it, to let Chuck know it's not for no. You can send that message for $3.50 cents. Not much to ask this one time to send Chuck on a super nice vacation. He certainly deserves it. It was my idea to do this. Pledge your $3.50 under the other thread. Let's make this happen for Chuck.
What's in this for Nilsson?
Nothing I don't want anything out of it except for one thing. I'm trying my damndest
to see that Chuck gets on that ship. If everybody just chips in a few dollars, you're going to make somebody happy, that's for sure. Do this thing, where's the team spirit? Thanks to Chuck, you've got a family of people willing, ready and able to help you, Chuck makes it possible for those connections to connect right there on your screen. Don't let him down, don't let LawnSite down.
Sorry if I sound like public TV.
Phil Nilsson

I remember in one reply to a post Phil saying almost any thing he does is for Phil to to promote Phil and to make money and to promote Phils business in so many words. Well by helping Chuck he is helping his business. Phil is a shrewd business man. Nothing wrong with that. Soon he will have Chuck in his pocket bought and paid for and the rest of us too. ON his way to taking over the whole internet and maybe the world. Chuck will come back from his cruise and the name of this forum will be change to "Phils lawnsite and associate(A1)". I am kinda kidding with this(or am I).

I also wonder about Phils motives. Considering his past comments, I am also wary of the motives behind everything he does. Maybe he has seen his mistakes, thats ok, maybe just too proud (or thick-headed ;) ) to admit them here.
Competition is a good thing. keeps everyone honest.
Bill

Edited by: thelawnguy

I kind of get the feeling that there is an ulterior motive to Phil's posting also. Don't get me wrong, I like the idea of doing something for Chuck and will support that. But Phil left this forum to move to another, because we were not posting to his suit "his" standards. But since there was not much traffic there......think about it.
I mean you don't go squirrel hunting on the beach, do you. You go where the squirrels are.
Jim

I'm really sorry to see these kinds of posts because I think it defeats the purpose of raising funds for Chuck's vacation and introduces what some might think is a hidden agenda, from me.
What I didn't say in my first post about the idea for Chuck's vacation was this and this will clear up some things ... please read it through.
Half hour before I sat down with that cruise folder and got the idea for Chuck, I went to the gas station for coffee. At the checkout a raggidy looking lady came up and asked the clerk if they would take food stamps for a pack of sodas she wanted for three of her kids sittin out in the lot in an old junk car. The clerk said NO ... but I said YES ... "lady ... I'd be happy to pay the $4.25 so you can have soda." The lady said God Bless you sir for helping me out. I said lady, you're welcome, and as I said that to her my eyes got a little teary. I'm not embarrased to tell you this true recollection. But I can tell you that when I left that station I felt real good just being able to give somebody a hand who needed it. I also was walking a lot taller. Miss that $4.50? Noway, I'm just thankful I had it to pass along to her.
Now I agree that I come on strong and I come with an attitude, it's just my nature ... but I also have a real big heart, give the shirt off my back to just about anybody. By being a smart marketeer, or whatever, I make a good living ... but anybody will tell you who knows me that I work not for myself selfishly, but it truly pains me inside to see anybody hurtin at all. I'm the kind of person who would give his last dollar to a street person to go get em some chow.
The main reason is because when I look out at the world, I see a lot of nobodys out there. I always wanted to be a somebody in the world of nobodies. That's why I write books, do seminars, and try to earn my pay. I mainly work to give myself away to my family, friends and associates. I'm not in it for myself personnaly, I make money to pass it on, because that brings me more personal satisfaction than spending it on myself. Give Phil a hot coffee and a smoke to smoke and he's happy. See somebody hurtin, broke or in despair, and Phil is sad. Modern day Don Quixote, that I am.
Okay sure, Phil will get some publicity for doing Chuck's vacation thing ... but that's not the main thing .. that's a side event that just happens. Everything is connected in life like a big spider web.
So ... figured I take on this challenge for Chuck. Didn't think I'd get any arguments at all for just $3.50 a piece. If I felt I could afford it myself ... I'd pay the whole cruise for Chuck. Because I've been on a lot of them and I know he'd have a great time. Some people are suspicious, question everything ... but I never questioned the motives of that poor lady at the gas station, I just gave her the money and never looked back. What goes around comes around .. I'm a believer in that. I'm a resourceful person and will always make a living whatever I do. The thing that may throw some people off about me is that while standing in a crowd ... I like to stand out in the crowd.
Phil Nilsson

You people have to understand this isn't about me .. it's about SENDING CHUCK ON A CRUISE. If you don't like the messenger, no problem ... find somebody else to pick up the torch ... but continue to raise the funds.
People come in and out of these boards all day long, half the night too. I can tell you straight out that if they don't support
Chuck on this trip will it be that they are too selfish to go out of their way for somebody else? Sad commentary for sure, that some takers never realize the happiness that can be found in giving to others. What's in it for me? What's in it for me? that's all they can think. Is that how any of you feel and think? Well do what you want with your thoughts, unless they take down the vacation post I'm in it for the long haul. You know Chuck deserves this as much as I do, why introduce a brand new bunch of negatives ... that only rain on the guy's parade?
Anybody who hasn't made a pledge yet .. should skeedaddle over to the vacation thread. And please, let's not poison a good thing for Chuck ... have a little faith in something.
Phil Nilsson

The lady at the checkout used the term food stamps, I'm just echoing the term she used.
I'm surprised you even bring it up ... plus to do something good for someone like Chuck I have to listen to this nonsense? Picking apart words, what is it ... are people fearful of spending $3.50 on this program?
Or was it that you can't believe that I gave $4.50 to a perfect stranger as an act of kindness?
Let's get on with raising money for Chuck's trip ... a lot of good people have made a pledge, let's not disappoint them.
Phil Nilsson

Phil,
You are right we have to start looking at the big picture not the small things in life. Always remember you came from the gound and the ground you go back to. Life is a mystery and to figure it out you have to look only at the good not the bad. Its too short to look at the details. Your days are numbered here why even waste your little time. You did something and it is good and i see it. God bless everyone.
