Do you think it would be profitable to send out letters to companies by Email? I have a nice letter typed up (short and sweet, with graphics) explaining my company and services provided. I have found real estate websites that have Email addresses for basically all of the real estate agents in my area. I thought maybe if I sent this letter out to a few hundred or so, I might get a good response. I figure, its free so why not? Just wondering if anyone has tried this and if it worked or not.

I don't appreciate pornographic spam, Rx spam, and crap like that. But I have gotten spam in my Email that I do read and am interested in. I do see your point, but I don't see this as junk mail.

Hi Timbo,
If you can contact a company through their website and offer your services, why not?

Keep it short and very sweet. Also include an incentive to call you. Please post hope how it works out for you. I'd hope for 1%....Drew

Any bets on how many spammers say that? :)
Seriously, I think most will delete it without doing more than glancing at it, but that's what happens with door hangers and every other kind of advertising too. Good luck and keep track of the results so you know if it was worth it or not.
Avoid putting "Click here" in the message or chances are it will be marked as spam by many filters.

I dont think it is a bad idea. You can also purchase this service, im sorry i dont have a link, but I have seen it. In your case, it's free, thats always better... The real estate agent part is what I would be very careful of. These guys often have their own thinking when it comes to payment terms (try a search) and I can personally say I have learned a lesson or two the hard way with them.
I have also been told by someone who has dealt with advertising and the like that there is something called "Rewarded Effort". That is, an inclination by the consumer to reward an advertisers effort. For example: a flyer on a windshield, a flyer on a mailbox or a flyer with a card stapled to it hanging from the front doorknob. Which would you be more likely to "FEEL" like calling? They stated consumers do have a tendency to reward effort, so this may have an effect on your response %, compared to mail-outs etc. Also, how do you define an area, a route or a perimeter. Does your information include the agents whereabouts?

After trying several different efforts through email, I've learned several things: sending a text only document works better than one with pictures....NEVER send one with an attachment, and expect about 2% response....also providing an opt out is always a professional touch. Good luck. Like you said, it's free so any business you get is bonus...
