Email advertising

Do you think it would be profitable to send out letters to companies by Email? I have a nice letter typed up (short and sweet, with graphics) explaining my company and services provided. I have found real estate websites that have Email addresses for basically all of the real estate agents in my area. I thought maybe if I sent this letter out to a few hundred or so, I might get a good response. I figure, its free so why not? Just wondering if anyone has tried this and if it worked or not.

You should first look into see if sending out unsolicited e-mails is legal or not. I know with faxes, if they are unsolicited you can get sued. Perhaps you should look into sending out postcards via snail mail. If they feel that they can use your service, even if it isn't immediate, they'd probably hang onto it (on the fridge, etc.).
