Date of mower

How can you tell the model year of a mower, I want to make sure I'm getting what my dealer is telling me.

Most of our serial #'s are like a date code.
The first 2 digits are the year and the second 2 are the month.
So for example... 0406 as the first 4 digits would be a June 2004 production unit.
The rest of the digits are used for our tracking purposes.
