View Full Version : Little red bugs in mulch around house.

Found a couple houses where there were lots of these little red bugs. As I remember they had some black on them, and the smaller one were a bit smaller then a "lady bug", and had a pear shaped body. They were bright red, and I found them in varrious stages of growth, yet they looked exactly the same except for size. The larger did not appear to be Chinch bugs, just larger versions. They were in shady areas behind bushes in mulch around a couple houses. I found some out on the pavement in a driveway, which would seem contrary to chinch bug behavior. Any thoughts, or good sites with lots of pictures?

Thanks
Jay

Sounds to me like they might be young "Boxelder bugs" or democrate bugs as they are sometimes called. You might check out several web sites. I noticed several today when I was taking a load of clippings to a dump site. They were all over the clipping piles.
