I have the option to purchase a Walker from my distributer. It is a demo model with 69hrs on it. The unit is a 1999 with a 25hp Kohler, 42" GHS deck, and 9.5bu catcher. He said it would sell for around $8,200. Anyone have any opinions? Has anyone had problems with the 25hp?

They are real rialible machines we have a 98 25hp 48"GHS and a 2001 26EFI 48"GHS with extra s/discharge blades, Walkers keep there resale values, a 1988 stills sells for 40 to 50 of sale price although there is deals out there. We bought the 25hp as a demo with 35hrs on it for $7545.00 and our 26EFI new for 9k so that 25hp is top doller if you want it try $7600.00 Or i can get a 2000 0r a 2001 25hp 48"GHS 9.5 bushel for around $8,800.00 brand new and mabey cheaper, If its mint get it!!!!!

Some interesting reading in the search function.
Problems with a 25 Kohler = YES
Personally I would NEVER buy one again.
Others have had good luck, I didn't.

Kohler even admits problems with it.

I talked to another guy yesterday who has a Walker for sale. Either a 1997 with the 25hp Kohler, 42" GHS, 9.5bu catcher, all terrain tires, head lights, and 1,000hrs. OR a 1998 25hp Kohler, 42" GHS, 9.5bu catcher, all terrain tires, edger attachment, nad 750hrs. He said he will sell either one for $5,000. I called the dealer where they are serviced and the mechanic said they were in the best shape he has seen a Walker in with a 1,000hrs on it. What do you guys think about these? It is either this or a new unit.

Our 25hp was and is great, Mike those prices are not bad at all, any options like TAIL-LOCK, LIGHT KIT, Or other? The 1998 sounds good the edger itself costs $925.00 new

Prices sound good but if it was me I'd buy a new one, get the warranty!
I have a 25 Kohler and have had no problems at all. I would stay away from the one with 1000 hrs on it for sure, thats just too many, put $3200.00 with that and get a little re-assurance.
