View Full Version : Wanna make a quick 20 bucks?

06-25-2004, 05:59 PM
A guy next door to our customer comes out waving his hands at Matt. So he stops, and the guy says "wanna make a quick 20 bucks?" Matt says "nope." The guy says, "you serious". Matt says, "yeah, I'm serious, but what do you want?" The guy points to his "lawn" and says, "my tractor broke, would you be able to cut this for me?" Matt says, "you're kidding right?".
The picture doesn't really do the area justice, but I didn't want to be standing back there and have the guy see me taking a picture. Would you cut it for a cool 20? ;)

$80 for 1 pass: $40 extra to double cut it!

HELL NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! $20 bucks won't cover a broken belt or worse that grass that high is going to cause.

Ditto on all the "no" answers. Where do these people come from?
You might offer to spray the field with Primo maxx to slow down the growth until his 75 hp farm tractor is fixed. lol

That's a negatory Ghostrider!!!! I'd do it for $50

06-25-2004, 07:32 PM
no way. I have my pride!

it would be $25 up front. lol--J/K....

actually I'd do it, I have done worse. that time was $350 and it was a residental back yard. it took over 3 hours.

Sure, it's Friday and I like to get screwed and get paid 20 bucks for it!!!!!!!!!

You should have told him it would have to be cut twice. Then charge him $40. If that's the whole area to be cut, it shouldn't take more than 30 Minutes to cut it.

06-25-2004, 09:26 PM
Sure, my Toro would eat that easy!

I do stuff like that all of the time, usually at least 1/2 screa plus!

2 ways I charge for this, either $2 a min. or per job, that job as a per job quote would fall between 50 and 70, I would be done under 30 minutes with my turbo force deck. cut at 3 to 3.5'' high.

client must walk with me through grass first though, any debris price goes up.

I'm not wrecking my machine for some goose, but the grass length is no problem for my Z588E.....a lot of yas have seen pics proving this that I posted awhile ago anyway.

I like these jobs over lawns, good money, no trimming, no cleanup.

I don't think so, go away and don't bother me.

No way would I cut it for $20!!!! These people think we are a bunch of dumb mower jockeys. What a joke. I would have went off on him, but then that would have proven the point that we are dumb mower jockeys...

No but I would give him a .20 cent bullet!(for free)
