What are your estimates as far as time goes? We can play the how close did I come to my estimate game as well.
Looks like a fun and a decent size job.

i figure about 4- 5 weeks to complete, contract state must have completed in 8 weeks
Chuck
Make sure to update pics. Are you concerned with losing soil runoff from under the pool decking and around the pool itself??? Looks like the wall was very close to the concrete decking.

Today went very very well,,,,90 percent of of excavating was done today, and 50 percent of the concrete around the pool was broken up plus we managed to rid our selves of the last of the railroad ties and dig our footings for our wall.
landscapingpoolguy
07-08-2004, 07:54 PM
this was a great digging job..having 2 machines on site made everything fly
landscapingpoolguy
07-08-2004, 07:56 PM
this guy loves to break stuff up, we had to do this by hand cause we drained the pool so not as to have a blow out but its a little to risky bringing a machine with a breaker close to the pool walls with no water holding them up
landscapingpoolguy
07-08-2004, 08:00 PM
as you can see im intensly concentrating on my excavation.....lol my guys always get me when im not looking....anyways sorry not too many pics today but we were all really kicking but on the job site.....tomorrow we start construction on the wall around the pool so more pics then

Looks awsome so far, and you've got some cahones going after a job that big!
Is that a vers-lok block?
Do you have any action shots of the back of the wall (geogrid installation) as you go?
I'm very impressed.

did you use geogrid in the wall? looks to be over 5'. looks great though. are you putting pavers around the pool?

Looks to me like it's straightfaced Keystones. Don't know of too many blocks that use that type of pin, so that's my guess.
It looks good so far! I'm looking forward to seeing finished pictures.........
How'd you like the 864/T250/T300?

landscapingpoolguy
07-20-2004, 08:34 PM
pavers and flag stone around the pool....Straight faced keystone....each wall is 4' at its highest point.....the t200 is awesome.....we had a s185 but it sank in the mud.

a few more up to date photos for yas...we basically finsihed teh lower wall work except for a corner planter and some caps then we start up top.....we had some serious settling issues and ended up having to take the wall down and rebuild then one of teh guys was working above the wall with the skid and clipped teh same wall we just rebiult and sent it crooked....so again it had to come down to be rebuilt....so after all these setbacks these are the results

Do you find yourself dreaming of using that T200 more often. I rented one to install a lawn after about three inches of rain. Saved my but by (1) having traction in mud and (2) having some major cahones. When you get to the part of the job with pavers please let me know if you can lift a full pallet.

Thanks guys....this project is really taking a toll on us tho...its an extreme amount of labor and basically building the one wall 3 times has totally exhausted the crew and myself...I even hired and extra guy just for the project and tho it makes things faster I still wish we had a few more hands....we go 6 days a week this time of year.

Landscapingpoolguy..............I have glanced through the pics and some of the post and am wondering if you realize some of the problems you are creating in the way you have built this project? Your upper wall is putting all of its weight to the lower wall. Have you factored that into the lower wall? Also you stated your high point it 4'. Did you building the wall using geo grid? Your settling problems are going to continue if you have not factored just those two points. Based on your pics their are additional problems with the pool. I wish you luck and hope you step back before going much further and realize the problems you have just begun to see are only going to continue on the is project over time.

Capitol,
Not to worry the walls have been done for quit some time...we had fixed the settling issue with a lot of compacting...the second rebuild was due to a worker clipping the wall with the the bobcat hence the third build of the wall......I am fully aware of the size of the job and have tackled a few of this magnatude before....the pool has had some complications...I had to redo all the plumbing, it also has all new electric, and I had to get a custom coping for the bullnose pavers to work around the pool, also I am installing a new liner...these are also issues that I have tackled many times before(Landscapingpoolguy) The work has slowed down alot......tuns of rain has made the area too muddy to work in so we ventured off to build another small patio at another house. I will post pics of that job later on tonight.....for now we are off till monday...extreme amounts of labor and and heat have exhausted us all and one day off this week is not going to be enuff rest...so no new updates till monday.

one of teh guys was working above the wall with the skid and clipped teh same wall we just rebiult and sent it crooked....so again it had to come down to be rebuilt
Been there done that before. It will never happen again. nothing like putting your sweat into a wall, and then have to redo it. I feel for you man! ;)

Chuck, by "pulls" I meant how many layers of grid did you install. I only asked if you used grid because you were asked two times previously and you didn't answer the question.
However, you did respond one time by stating that each wall was only 4' tall, which I found strange because clearly there are seven visible courses (and hopefully at least one buried) in some of the pics. Eight times Eight is 64" which is over 5'. I thought you were implying that you didn't need to use grid on the wall. That's why I asked.
