Toro Walk Behind Leaving Circles In Grass

I have noticed that my WB is starting to leave blade marks and seems to be scalping more than it used to. I have a 52" with floating deck. I have checked the obvious. Tire Pressure and slowed down to a degree. But it didnt do this in the past. Is there something or somethings that I should adjust to minimize this?

If its been very wet there, the soil it softer, so your machine will have a tendency to sink down in places.

I always have this problem with certain lawns in the spring, by summertime the ground hardens up and the problem disappears.

At least I've heard its been wet down South.

Have you raised or lowered it recently?
The anit scalp rollers might be not set right.
How about the posts that hold the pins at the height, mabey they are messed up.

Thanks guys...What is the best setting for the anti-scalp wheels. How far off of ground should they be? Yes it has been very wet here lately. VERY WET. We just got back on schedule this week. Been working into the dark for last 5 days here.

This is probably a stupid question, but your blades are not on upside down are they? I did that once on a toro proline 21", and it did not cut very well. Go figure.

how many blades does that have? 3 i would assume.. if all the blades are leaving circles, it would be something already mentioned more than likely.. if it is not all of them doing it, i would say my bed is a bent blade or bent deck..

Thanks I will try and replace the blades tonite. If they are bent they arent bent much. But just in case. I will replace anyway. It is about time to do so anyway. So cheap fix. As far as the deck being bent. I hope not. But any ideas as to how to check it.

if you put new blades on the machine.. when you have the blades on, turn the blades so the tips are next to each other.. they should be even with each other.. or really really close.. i think a 16th of an inch is about the most it can be off...

should look like this:

if it looks like this:
__blade-- __blade__ __blade--

then the deck is bent.. that is assuming the blades are new and are not bent.. it could also be the jackshaft bent.....
if i can find a better illustration of blade tips, i will post it...

Believe it or not that made sense to me. I will check the deck tonite. I changed blades today at lunch. So I will take a look at the deck. If bent I am assuming that it is not correctable? If jackshaft it is? How do I tell if jackshaft it the problem. Will it wobble when rotating? Like a warped wheel?

On each side of the deck are a threaded rod with a spring on one side. It looks like it is there to keep things stable. Could this ever need adjusting (Tightening) ??? If so how do you know when it is adjusted properly?

if the deck is bent around the blade spindle, you can sometimes whack the hell outta it with a 3-5lb sledge and correct it...
i have a deck puller.. i cant explain how it works.. you could always spot a Sears mechanic in someone yard working on a machine and stop and ask him if he has one and could you see it..
i dont know where Sears got them from.. i think we made them.. anyway...hammer usually works...if jackshaft is bent.. you can turn the blade and if the blade bolt makes a relative oval instead of a clean circle when turning.. that is how i can tell.. i dont think that is your problem though...
