put down plastic sheeting cut holes in it twice as big as each plant<p>-nick<br>
To late now, but try a pre-emergent next year.

do you think once i pull the weeds....that i can put the stuff called preen down??and if so will that keep the weeds away?<p>Thankyou<br>scott

Plastic sheeting is not a good alternative as it keeps water from getting to the roots as well as makes the mulch slide. I cannot stand the fabrics either as after 2 or 3 seasons the mulch has decomposed enough to allow seed to germinate above and into the fabric. Get down and pull'm by hand...not a big deal if you stay on top of it.
