Aluminium painting?

The aluminum deck on my JX85 has corroded on the outside under the grass bag. White crusty with all the paint gone. The rest of the deck paint is fine and with the rear flap down, this area is not visible. But I have been accused of being anal and want to paint this area.
Any tips other than clean well and paint??

I wonder if this is what happens when you have the mower out on damp grass, at any rate I surely think its worth trying the steps mentioned in the above link... Geeze, it's not like you have a whole lot of choices.
