When is it okay to fertlize lawns again?

I know some of you guys fertilize 2 - 3 times per year? What's the months you guys fertilize and what do you use? 29-3-4, 10-10-10?

Is it okay to fertilize now in July or is it too hot?

We fert 4 times a year here. And some are doing it 5 to 6 times. And its never to hot to put down fert,as long as the turf is getting water. There are so many different ratios of fert its hard to say what to use. But generally its a 3-1-2 ratio.

What do you all do about properties that don't get water.

Right now we're going through 80-90 degree weather with nothing but sun, and dry dry dry.

I've always have had a hard time fertilizing and spraying properties in this weather, but they insist on having it done.

At least my properties don't look any more burned out that the ones next door that haven't had anything done to them.

Ya, don't know what to say there ...

Just tell them to water in the early mornings, a few of my customers have irrigation systems installed and water their lawns, gardens on a regular basis..

If the lawns are not getting enough water to keep them green and growing DONT waste your time putting fert on them.

Generally, when do you guys do it?

1: feb-march (early spring)
2: may (late spring)
3: aug (early summer)
4: late oct
5: winter (nov)

that seem right to you guys?

Just to display differences in turfgrasses and their respective climates-I fertilize at least 8 times per year here.
I pull soil tests at the beginning of the year and by Mar start the fertilizing.
I average about 5-6 week window on applications.
Believe it or not, I follow the recommended schedule advised by the soil testing lab.

I'd love to help answer your questions, but you leave out too many details.

Every type of turfgrass has different requirements for fertilizer regarding what product and when to apply it. You also have to adjust the schedule to fit your climate.
