Are there any guidelines as to when you should replace a trailer ball? I have never heard of one wearing out but got thinking about it considering it is metal on metal contact. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Grease your balls. They will last a lot longer.

Yep. And buy/make a cover for it when not in use. If you don't, you will be sure to get grease on your pantlegs:)

I grease the heck out of my balls... ha ha

it's not the grease on the pant leg that bothers me, I always seem to be in a hurry when I hit mine, darn near rip my leg clean off...man that hurts

I take my receiver out of the hitch and put my hitch cover on that says "Revove To Tow Chev's" or "Insert Toys Here". Actually, lately I've gotten too lazy to do that.

When you see your trailer on the way home going the opposite direction well I say you are a bit late on the changing of the ball.

I usually wait to grease them when there about ready to or explode :D What kind of question is this? If you tow alot you would see the wear if you never towed then thats the last thing you need to worry about.
