I've always wanted to put some type of water feature on my property. The wife doesn't like the idea because she is afraid our grandson won't stay out of it. Last weekend I was at a local landscape business and noticed they had ponds on display with big granite rocks with a hole drilled through the center and set up as a fountain. I came up with a plan that I could set one on river rock with a catch basin underneath to place the pump. There wouldn't be any water standing on the surface. I have access to a coring machine at work. Now my question. Will a diamond core bit work to drill the hole? I know they are spendy and don't want to take a chance in wrecking it.

Diamond is about the only thing that will work................
That being said, A diamond drill can always break cutting holes in such materials. Chances are it won't,but ....................

Take it to a person who carves headstones and have him do it. They work with granite and would probably do it pretty cheap.
