View Full Version : The "unstallable" was stalled

I spent 6 hours running our Cat 216 skid yesterday and I have never stalled it and have been told that it can't be stalled. Well I used to believe that it can't, but it can, not very easily, but it still can. I hit a pile with good RPMS and it just quit on me. Fired right back up but after being told that can't happen and then have it happen was strange. Anyone else experienced this? Needless to say I couldn't kill it the rest of the day, must've been a fluke. LOL. We got all the other problems with our machine fixed, no overheating anymore but the aux. hyd. couplers are still a pain in the azz.

Scag- I was able to stall my 246 once while digging out a stump. I was pushing the machine pretty hard, though. Glad you got most of your problems worked out.

Ha! Cat is vincible!

Just kidding... I hate to hear a skid stall... it hurts for some reason.

Yep, kinda just hurts your pride when you think you've got it made for the day...Then the machine stalls. :D

Heh... I could imagine. Maybe you can get a free replacement if you tell Cat!

(I dunno, just thinking...)

Man your just getting yours back and were just putting ours in the shop! We broke a drive motor.:( So we had to take off steel tracks and get a rental. They gave us a 232 with steel tracks and as soon as we got it it got a flat tire:( O well it happens and we get ours back soon I think. Glad yours is fixed though:)

Try taking that thing in some mud... let me know how it goes. I would like to find out whether the 5.7" is really that bad.

(Just being selfish, that's all.)

LoL! It wanst to bad for 5.7'' of ground clearence. And the mud was deep. :D I like steel but that motor has so much power that the drive motor and the drive chain cant handle the power and the weight of the foam filler tires and steel tracks. But its a good machine.:)

Sowwy -- I was referring to the 232, no your machine.

But in any case, yeah, skid steers... it's kinda odd to me that everyone can build dozers whose engines can't be stalled, but you put any engine on a skid steer, and you'll stall the thing. (Anti stall modifies the system, but that doesn't happen much on dozers.) Oh well. To each his own.
