Almost none of the begonias around town look nice this year. They all look pretty horrible. Last June was very weird for us...we had very cool temperatures with highs on somedays in the upper 70's. It never got above 95 thoughout all of June. And it was very rainy. It drizzled for a few weeks off and on. It was also very cloudy...very humid and wet.

Anyway, are those ideal conditions for slugs?

Does this photo look like it could be slug damage?

Anyone have experience with Deadline slug bait? The Lesco guy recommended it today.

The notching looks like some slug or snail damage and the spots on the leaves could be fungus, maybe botrytis, probably aided by the rain. Try Sluggo if you can find it. Works great and won't bother Fido. Wilbur Ellis carries Sluggo in the Northwest. If fungus is a problem, as it appears to be, check with them for suggestions on treatments. Neal

How can you identify fungus damage? What do you look for?

Thanks,

It looks exactly like slug damage that a neighbor of mine has. We sat there one afternoon and picked some off and he has had trouble controlling them. He has a large begonia bed and they seem to loving eating them.
