sounds like a nice rig, but you'll be sorry you didn't go with a PSD. I know its some extra change but trust me once you get a diesel, you'll beat yourself up over not getting one sooner. Good luck with the new rig.

Wow, congratulations.

I purchased the bestest truck I've ever used a coupla yrs back.

A 2002 F250 deisel

I love Ford trucks, and I seriously love diesels now. Didn't really need a 4x4, it woulda been nice to sit higher than everyone else on the road tho. I wish you'd gotten the diesel as well...your spending that kinda money, get the best...you might be a little underpowered with that 5.4. Still, Fords are great trucks.

Congrats...and welcome to the land of serious truck payments :)

Truck Payments!!! hahah I wish.. I'm only 17 and can't get a loan.. Paying for the entire thing cash money:cool: Thats how us high rollers do it:blob2: lol

Would go with the PSD if I could dig up another $5grand cash.. I'm going to be getting another new 350 in a few months for another plow truck, so I think that one will go 1/2 cash, 1/2 Ford financing and I'll get the PSD. But I can't do it right now, trying to save for a house:)

Put the amount you're paying on the "gas powered" as a down payment and finance the other 5K. I'm sure they'll do that and if not, just go to your bank and ask for a personal loan with the truck as collateral.

Nobody will write a loan for me until I'm 18.. Already tried what you just said, and it didn't work.. I got approved for $600.00

Who the hell has enough cash to buy a brand new F350 4x4 at age 17!?#!??

Man, I'm seriously depressed here.

i remember when i was 17, i paid cash for a truck... even though it was a '91 f-150 and i paid 2500 cash... wow i'm depressed, i guess i'll go make sure my doors aren't falling off yet...

oh yeah, and if you're paying cash kid, tell the dealer that you will be and get him to drop the price a few grand more, and upgrade to a PSD(or if your leaning that far towards the 5.4, get the v-10), drop the Fx4 package, trucks with a smooth ride? WTF is that, and bam, you got a better truck, even try to squeeze in the XLT package, for just a bit more. if that dont work, tell your grandpa that you need a 3K loan.

if all else fails, tell the dealer that you will finance for 72mo. and you need the lowest price possible, get it in writing with out signing anything, say, wow, that price is cheap, are you sure i can get it for that, and then change you mind last second and pay for it all with cash.

come on young'n scam the scammers

If I'm walkin' in with cash then I'm walkin' out smilin'!

Find a dealer that will work with you......way too many out there to jump on the first thing you see.

I went to six blue oval certified dealers and this one is the only one that would even TALK to me!!

I'm getting $5000 in rebates so its not a bad price. Looking at about $34,000 with plow..

DALM- NO WAY I'm gonna drop the FX4 package.. The back of the bed on the truck is up to my neck (and I'm 6'3")!! I would take sitting way up above everyone else over a bigger engine. V-10 is crap, I would love to get 3mpg. Diesel will be in the next one but I can't justify an extra $10,000 for diesel engines. I have better things to spend the money on.

dlandscaping
08-06-2004, 10:25 AM
I was looking at diesel but the rebate is 1000 less, and then it is 6000 more, the tranny and the engine. Its hard to justify that cost if the truck will be driving less than 10k a year. I was either going to get exactly what you are getting except in wedgewood blue or a xlt w/ limited options. You should be able to be financed something, maybe $5000 if you have a w2.

Quality, you paid cash for a new truck that probably goes in the mid 30's and the dealer wouldn't finance the $5000 difference so you could get a diesel. Wow! I think I'd ask the folks to co-sign that small amount, it appears to me you'd be good for it.

Enjoy your new truck.

well steve, welcome to the 6'3 club, that makes two of us, no big deal, and i'm sure it doesn't come to your neck other wise how would the normal people of 5'8-5'10 beable to get anything out of the bed... anyways, i respect your desision, but if you're only gonna upgrade later on, i'm telling you to be smart about it, get the 4x4 snow plow package with the v-10, 4.30 limited slip, xlt package, but dont get the crew cab, what a waste if you wont be hauling 5 people at all times... get the extended cab and you can even get cool cleanace lights, and the 12.5K towing package and with the rebates you're getting, i bet i could get the truck i'm talking about for only 29-30K... and it comes with stuff like a cd player and an 8' bed. IMO i wouldn't go all out to get something that is over kill, be a smart kid and get what you need, not what you want.

Steve, who are you buying your truck from? I bought my 04 V10 F350 CC 4x4 from a Ford dealership in Victor, NY two weeks ago.

qualitylandscaping

Keith,

I got mine from Vision Ford in Greece. They had to go up to the adirondacks to get it for me.. I wanted to get mine from Van Bortel where you got yours but they were playing a money game, and I'm too smart for it (they were trying to give me the rebates off the list price, not the invoice price)

Will get pictures up today..

I like my 5.4 very much, new three valve, lots of power. But I don't plow with mine either.

To the other guys, most dealers don't give a dam if you pay with cash or not. They get their money either way.

Keith
08-07-2004, 04:00 PM
Steve, that sucks to hear that you had a bad experience with Van Bortel. They advertise $200 below invoice on almost all new Fords :( Jeff Clark, one of the salespersons there, runs the FTE program through Van Bortel and fordtrucks.com . I got mine for $950 below invoice and got all rebates. The sticker on my truck was $34,790 and ended up getting it for $26,557. Heck, I drove from Florida to get it

Again, I am sorry to hear that. I wish I had known in advance and maybe I could have hooked you up with the right person to talk to.

On a side note, I really enjoyed my stay up there. When I drove the truck back I came through the Finger Lakes region, it's a beautiful area. . Jeff took me over to Rochester to eat at Dinosaur BBQ. I must say I did not think I would find good BBQ up north.

Ya it's nice up here.. When you were at Van Bortel you were right across the street from one of my commercial accounts.. I live about 20miles west of there, but 90% of my jobs are within 5 miles of Van Bortel..

Gotta come back up and get a garbage plate.. Now thats some good food!:D

Keith
08-08-2004, 01:56 AM
Let's see, what was right across the street. I know I spent about an hour down at the car wash cleaning up the rental, but it wasn't right across the street. And I bought some high dollar regular unleaded right next door to the car wash. :) The nursery was down the street going the other way on 96, but I can't remeber what was right across the road.

BTW, what's a garbage plate? :D

Edit: Wasn't too hard to find http://www.ambrosiasw.com/Ambrosia_Times/November_97/4.6HowTo.html

I mow an Overhead Door company right behind Van Bortel, and a huge child care center right around Bristol's Nursery..

Glad ya got your garbage plate.. Just hope you didn't get ripped on if you didn't finish it.. I'm in there about once a month, and have finished everyone except my first:cool:

Remember guys, we are mowing a campground in the Southern Tier and with all of it put together (had less in the spring, now he wants more done) I'm getting $8,000 bi-weekly for it.. That account is pretty much all I need to pay the bills and stay alive. The other accounts just bring home the extras (new trucks, mowers, etc)..

Thanks for the compliments guys!:D

sTEVE recheck those dealer numbers. I am buying a new diesel this week and it comes out thousands less than yours.
Figure invoice of your truck $26200
dealer money paperwork (title regis) +$500
rebates $3000 consumer
$1000 commercial
total is under $24000
So unless a plow costs $10k up there something is up

qualitylandscaping
08-13-2004, 08:59 AM
Invoice on my truck $28300
Plow $4797
Spreader $2600
New tires and rims $1,500
Lettering $450
Tinting $220

The rest of "my add ons" and everything above addded up to the number I posted

Hoss, the new Hemi in the dodges is 5.7 as well... And the usual engine in late model chevy's is the 5.3 or the 6.0 in the hd...But the last of the 350's were great engines... The vortecs...

They are only that high because everyone and their brother wants to plow around here, so everything is on a waiting list..
