Does anyone have any pointers on hiring employees. I own a small lawncare business now but am looking to expand in 2005. Ideally, I hope to have enough business next year that would make it feasible for me to hire 2 employees.

Has anyone ever been sued by an employee due to an on the job injury? I am currently learning about Workman's Comp and am curious to know if anyone has had any dealings in this area?

Thanks

Before I started my own business, I worked for the same LCO for 10 or so years. We had a few Workman's Comp claims filed, but never had an employee sue. A few of them were upset that WC didn't pay more.

Work solo now, I'll look into it more when the time comes.

Hi traumanurse,

Here is another post that discusses workers compensation claim (http://server2.lawnsite.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=52133). Maybe it will be helpful.

welcome to the site, I would only work on one employee right now. Trust me, your first employee will be a huge learning experience for you
