I have had a few days of rain and my schedule is getting messed up. I think I'm going to go ahead and mow today. Any advice?

I mow in it when I need to, but it can cause a less than exceptable look once it dries out. It all depends on how wet the grass is and how long it is to begin with.

Mowed in the rain till lunch today. There are few tricks one can use to improve the looks of the yard afterwards. The type of grass has alot to do with it also.As wuz mentioned above the equip will need a major wash job afterwards. Also the property needs to drain very well to prevent rutting.

it depends the type of propertys and the type of rain. Light misty rain, all properties are ok. Medium rain, thin lawns. And heavy rain, sitting on the couch watching the televison

Tiedeman has the right idea I don't like to but sometimes you have no choice. The one thing about cutting in the rain is your going to be breaking even this is not a money making day but if you have lawns that won't get done otherwise its better to suffer in the rain then look unreliable. And some lawns grow so fast that if you were to skip them your in for a nightmare next week.

If it hasn't rained in a month, then no, I stay at home. If its like last year, with 2-4 days of solid rain a week for weeks at a time, then yes, I try to do the best I can.

I didn't until I bought a 26hp Walker w/the GHS option (bagger) but even that will only work on bermuda without a steep hill and on fescue if it's almost completely flat. My walk behind (Ferris single hydro) would easily butcher a yard if it was raining.

No cutting here today. Been a steady rain and the mower decks clog when the wet grass won't shoot out. Hopefully it will stop overnight like I have heard it might do. Only one day behind due to working on Labor day. Boy I am glad I did that. One rule that I have is: If you start a lawn and it starts raining you finish it. That has only come back to bite me once and boy did it evey let loose. I was a one wet person when I finished it.

As long as the ground is not too wet, I keep going...especially St.Augustine lawns, it could rain 3 inches and 95% of those yards will never leave ruts as long as the augustine is thick enough. In the past 8 years, I have never lost a week to rain, I may have been a day behind or worked off and on while it rains lightly, but never stopped unless it totally downpours...or of course when it starts lighting, I'm outta there!!

When I'm in doubt about cutting, I check out my own lawn. How long is the grass, how damp/wet. Fire up the mower and test it. Now, I have a few customers who really don't care what condition the lawn looks like. They can
wait till a rainy day and I still get paid very well . I personally don't like the
wet look. It's also very hard to blow down when it's wet.Safety is an issue also. A lot of our customers have steep hills.Hope this helps.
