I came upon the following thread that asks whether or not the mowers of today need all of the horsepower that they have. It would be interesting to hear your comments about this subject, either here or within the thread itself.

Critical care,

If engineering would put a supercharged V8 running on nitro-methane somebody would buy it.............fast.

Do you need all that power available all the time? Definately not. Do you need all the power available some of the time? Certainly.

I have a 23 hp Lazer Z /Utra Vac 3 bagger/Jerco tine rake and I am going to get a new one next year so I have been think alot about which engine to get on the next Z and have decided that the 23 does so well for me that a bigger hp is not needed and would be a waste of money and overkill as the 23 hp handles all 48 of my lawns just fine no matter what the grass conditions are. I am however going to check out the liqued cooled as my 23 with the bagger on seems awful hot at times...
