I'm thinking of sidelining my w/b for a newer model. Any opinions about a stander or ZTR? Is JohnDeere's stander any good. Looking for 52"/23hp (or there abouts) combo. I have tried both types of mowers. Just can't make up my mind. BTW the yards I do have alot of trees and obstacles.

If you are doing mainly smaller( 1 acre and under) properties with obstacles, you may find the Stander to be more efficient than a ZTR in tight quarters. The best thing to do is set up demos with the respective companies you are considering, and try them on your regular accounts. Our local Wright dealer gave us a Stander to demo for a week so we could try it on all our properties, and we have recieved great after sale service as well. Our Deere dealer here leaves something to be desired, so I am not familiar with the JD version, personally. If you are leaning toward a Stander over a Z, go with Wright, and you can't go wrong...

I agree with impact in principle. Standers are much more agile and easier on the turf. I own a ZTR Gravely PM 260, but I bought it because I have an account that is a lot of straight mowing and I needed the 60".

I have used the JD stander and it works well, but the ones we had needed lots of help[ in the electronic area. Safety switches and other relays were breaking with some regularity. 4 times in 800 hours.

Never used a Wright, but many people around me have them and many people on here love them.

Pretty much what impact said. Its compactness helps in the tightly landscaped lawns.

I wouldn't own anything else other than a wright. I got a garage full of wright products. But everyone else here already knows that.

Thanks for all the advice. I'll have to give my local Wright dealer a shout again. The stander did seem to work better for zipping around trees.

Don't count out the great danes, That's what I run and I've been more than satisfied with them. I think they are very close to the JD, except the JD has a cast deck??
