View Full Version : Dump truck?

Does anyone have a dump truck, that they absolutely love, and can't imagine doing what they do without it? I am looking at buying a dump truck, I have no brand preference (Chevy or Ford), I plan to use it in the summer months for landscape and winter months for salting. Any suggestions or testimonials would be appreciated.

Yes. What exactly do you want to know? Sizes, options, how used, maintenance requirement, etc?

I need to be able to haul field stone for landscape, mulch, etc. And put a big enough salter on it so that I don't need to fill it every hour. Something that hold maybe 4-8 tons would be good. An automatic if possible with good power and preformance.

GMC C6500 all the way. Couldnt imagine the company without it. I think every landscaping company needs at least one truck this size. The one tons are great but if you are only going to have one truck get a big one. I have been seeing used 1998s with dumps for around 20,000(they are lease returns that they put dumps on),,,,,not bad at all I would have gone that route if they were available when I bought mine.

Nice truck five star. Have you loked at the 4500's next year they will have 4x4 as an option. I think a 4500 4x4 would be the ticket for me. Do you or anyone you know have a 4500?

Liberty, my Aunt and Uncle have two 4500's. One has the Duramax, and the other has a gas engine... They are both very capable, But the D-max would be my choice hands down.. They use it to tow a 15 ton pull behind trailer with either their Case 580 hoe, or their 95 xt Skid steer.. Pulling the trailer with it seems like it's hardly workin' at all.. And it has the brakes to stop it too.. Excellent trucks, just get the diesel, you won't regret it.
