What does everyone do about rust on there trucks?
I have a 98 gmc dump truck and the sides of the bed are rusting.
Has anyone tried Gempler's rust converter or anything like that.
This topic of rust was covered pretty well on the Snow Plowing Discussion site in a post by finnegan entitled "rust". He was talking about protecting the moldboard, I think, but the same procedures would apply.

Sorry - I just figured out that there are two posts with similiar titles. The one I'm talking about is titled just "rust" and dated Jan 6. If I knew how to link it to here, I would. It's on page 2.

Just Grind the paint off with a grinder and wire brush and put on some primer.

if you prime it,you need to use a primer/sealer right away or paint it right away, primer alone does not seal out water,it is just a scratch filler/etching base only

Easy, move South. Very few rusty trucks down here. Rinse that truck often when there is salt down on the road.

On one of my older trucks i grind down the rust to metal, then prime and paint. It don't look to bad either.
