Here are some pics of my homemade striping kit and the results. The stripes would be more defined if I had a better lawn.

It's made from a rubber mat I picked up from a Tractor Supply store near me for $12. One side is smooth and the other ribbed. I only used about 1/3 of the mat, so I have spare if it wears out. I just wished that Home Depot had a heavier angle iron. This one will probably bend after a while.

Looks like a cheap way to stripe. Is it on an exmark. How thick is the mat and how wide did you cut it? Think Ill steal this idea.

It is on an exmark. The mat was 27" wide which was a few inches wider than the inside dimension between the rear tires.

I think the stripes look just fine.

The first stripe kit I designed was made out of conveyor belting. We had a problem with it; when you make the turn the rubber belting was binding and making a cut in the turf. We have since changed to all chains and have been more than happy.

I wonder how stiff or rigid the conveyor belt was compared to the material Robert used. I've seen the exact material he's talking about and it's pretty soft and flexible. Plus in the pic, it looks like he rounded the corners some. I can't see that stuff causing a problem.

The belting was very rigid 1/2", and we didn't take the time to round the corners, that may have worked. Nice idea, we never even thought of that. Chains couldn't fit my needs any better though.

What size chains are we talking about? And what means are they supported? Can you post a pic?
