I, and several of my friends in the business have been getting post-cards and promo brochures in the mail for a company called Powerscape. They are an equipment sales and service organization with locations in Orlando, Lakeland, Ocala and Tampa that would be within driving distance to me. Has anyone dealt with this company and if so, what type of deals do they give? I contacted the company and they plan on entering my county this year. The more competiton the better I say.

powerscape is based out of charlotte nc
they are buying up dealers in the southeast.
just as manufacturers are being bought by the big guys, so are some dealers.
this company was started by a gentleman that did the same with the equipment rental business. and was successful with doing it.
they look for existing commercial equipment dealers and buy em out.
i think you will see these guys to be very large in a few years.
here is there website.

Powerscapes bought out a firm I've been dealing with for about 8yrs here in Lakeland, Fla. I think there better than the old company as far as service goes. They kept the same mechanics, (these guys know the in's and out's of commercial turf equipment and how badly we contractors depend on them and service them quickly and professionally). God Bless you Ed! The management is also more professional, freindly, and service oriented. I say two thumbs up to POWERSCAPES.
They bought the husky shop on albemarle rd.CHARLOTTE
A year will tell what there goal is.

yes that was the former barfields, on albemarle rd
they also bought spain equipment over off south blvd (my ex-employer)
those were the 2 largest commercial dealers in the immediate charlotte area.
like i said they are going to own a lot of dealerships in the future.

Yep. They closed the 1 I was bragging about 2wks ago. They said the problem with this store was they lost too many product lines to the competitors and Husky would'nt step in and save the day. Russ
they recently closed th one i posted about, that use to be barfields.
something rotten in denmark is my guess. again time will tell

To my knowledge they were buying top dealerships in different areas.
The company I had worked for once (Spain Equipment) did not have any problems..
I think with them dropping certain lines and forcing other lines in these dealerships, caused there demise...
I could be wrong .....

Powerscape bought out two dealerships in the charlotte,n.c. area back in late winter, early spring. Powerscape is synonymous with Husqvarna. Two weeks ago Powerscape closed both of the newly aquired dealerships and left town. An article in the Charlotte newspaper earlier this week annonced the closings and stated that Powerscape was going to concentrate their efforts in Florida.
My problem with this deal, is that Spain Equipment which was bought by Powerscape was the dealer that sold and serviced my Scag stuff. Now Powerscape is closed, and the dealer near me that is now selling Scag doesn't have a clue. I can't even get an air filter from these guys, much less service on my mowers.

What a shame, these employees loosing their jobs. I liked Spain and bought my Sthil trimmers & blower from them. Delt with Barfield one and that was enough for me. Have been dealing with Whitleys since with no regreats. Wish Powerscapes would have stayed out of Charlotte.

Ray,
I worked there for a few years, and I enjoyed it !!!
Everyone was great to work with.
John Spain was a very smart man, and ran his business accordingly.
There was a couple of employees that had been there many years, Alice in parts was there for at least 15 years, and could take care of any parts needs for any product they had, and Lowell in parts was there for around 7 years, he to was a great person with and knew the product from inside out.
I see what happened with Powerscape and think where are they now ?
So many years of service and now. sorry were closing the store...
It really upsets me....:(

That is a shame about Barfields and Spain. They carried most of the major brands. And all of those people out of work. I guess I will have to deal with someone else for my Toro. I was dealing with Barfield.
