Whats your favorite recipe for these suckers. I like orthene (1 Lb In 100 Gals), but it's hard to mix up small amounts and it stanks. Talstar aids in their fertility, I know. What works for you? Tempo?

Thanks....

I use Dursban. I bought enough a couple of years ago to last for about 2 more seasons.

Orthene is hard to beat on any sucking insects like aphids, scale, etc., as long as you (and your customers) can deal with that smell.

READ THE LABEL AND BE SURE THAT THE PLANT IS LISTED AS SAFE FOR YOUR APPLICATION.

Botanical Pesticides:(Nonsynthetic Pesticides),or Natural
Pyrethrum
Rotenone
Ryania
Sabadilla

INSECTICIDAL SOAP
It is not an insecticide but in face a soap like
product which works by suffocating aphids. Though it
will work rapidly, Insecticidal Soap does not provide
any type of residual and will have to be applied
over and over throughout the growing season.

Synthetic Pesticides ( made in chemical labs.)

DELTAMETHRIN DUST
Deltamethrin Dust
will work quickly, leave a white visible dust where
applied and will last several weeks when applied properly.
It can be used on anything none edible and won't hurt
any plant - one of the key features of any dust.

PERMETHRIN DUST to treat them. Permethrin Dust
is just as effective but it won't last nearly as long.
Most applications will break down in a few days which
makes the product good to use when treating plants which
are growing crops that will be consumed in a short time

CYFLUTHRIN. This will provide a quick
knockdown of existing aphids, last 2-4 weeks per application
and will go a long way. It too is odorless, won't hurt any
plant and is easy to use.

The strongest material to use for aphids is a product
called BIFEN. This uses the latest generation of synthetic
pyrethrin is which is very active on aphids and goes a long
way as well. It will provide a quick knockdown, last
a long time so you don't have to apply it frequently and
will work on just about any problem pest on the plant.

What product has Bifen in it? Tempo's active ingredient is cyfluthrin...

I like orthene. If my math is right I am thinking a tablespoon per two gallons of water would work for orthene....

Talstar is the same as Bifen and is sold with the name Bifen .

It's hard to beat Merit for sucking insects (aphids, white fly, adeldigs, scale, lacebug) and many chewers, like weevils, as well. Low toxicology numbers are comforting. It won't kill mites, either damaging or predators. Spray works fast and is systemic so you get good residual. Soil injection gives the longest control, up to a full season in most cases, but it acts slowly so you have to plan to treat way before a problem. Fall and winter are the best, at least in the Northwest. Neal

No on has mentioned Azatrol. It is the active in Neem oil. I have been trying it out at a nursury I do pest control for. So far, so good. I had been using Sprayoil415 with a fair amount of success. Also SuspendSC with Silicone Surfactant. The Azatrol is supposed to be:repellant, growth regulator, contact, anti-feedant. Sounds like a lot for one thing to do, but I can say it has lasted a little longer than the SuspendSC.
Oh, it is quite expensive at 240.00/ga. I am using 32oz/100ga rate.
