Cracks in lawn

There are areas in my lawn where the grass is a little thinned out and I can see spots in the ground that have cracks (like a dried up lake bed I guess). Is the ground just dried up? I can water it almost everyday and as soon as I skip 2 or 3 days it comes back.

That is what I figured but just making sure. It just seemed like certain areas dried out alot faster than others and no, they don't get any more sun than others

some areas may have more dirt than others...no yard is perfect.
