Per Rye & Fescue problem

I put down some fescue and per rye seed a few wees ago on screened soil. Things were going very well until I cut the new ares for the first time, which are beginning to turn black and matted in certain spots. I put down a lesco starter fert (18-24-18) on these areas a few days ago but the problem was happening before this. Any ideas? I can post some pics tomorrow or Saturday.

First was it Moldy looking???? To much water. Spray fungicide and reseed.

I guess you could say it looked moldy... If its too much water... well, mother nature dumped about 8" of water on us in September. Oh well. Its only in a few spots so I will need to reseed next year and stop cutting those areas. Thanks for the reply.
