I just finished mowing this evening and set a new personal best for the number of cuts in a 12 hour day.. solo. I managed to finish 19 lawns between 7:00 am and 7:00pm. Sixteen of them were 12,000 SF (1/4 acre lawns) and 3 were 15,000 SF. The route was real tight and that helped. I'm feeling it right now and my butt is dragging big time, but I feel pretty good about the accomplishment.

I know this is no big deal for some of you, but for an old dude like me it was a personal best.

Lets here some bragging. What's your personal best for one day...solo?

I can't remember the total lawns I did on my best day.. I started at 4:30am on a commercial and finished at 11:45pm on a commercial.. The rest of the day was residentials.. I think I made $1,900 mowing that day..

So we are talking about 237,000sf in 12 hours.. I usually have that amount of turf covered by noon.. most days :p

Congrats on your new record.

19 yards in 12 hours solo sounds pretty good to me.

Most in a day for me solo is 20 in 8 hours. I kinda cheat tho, as I have 1 day a week I do vacant houses and they are just mow and go, no trim, no blow. Full service weekly customers best is 17 in 10-11 hours.

Congratulations. I did 32, left my house 7 AM drove 46 miles to first one, cut 32 and drove the 40 some miles back home by 6:30 PM. 160 miles total for the day. BUT, these were vacant, repo'd houses, as someone else said, mow, blo and go. Most had been sprayed with roundup before, around foundations and fences and garages. So, my 32 probably wasn't as much work as your 19. Just because someone puts up big numbers, don't loose sight of what you accomplished!!

I cut 61 acres last week Thursday, finished a 450 sq ft retaining wall, and sold 3 holiday lighting projects to commercial customers, and was eating dinner by 5:30. Well maybe i had a lot of help. Congratulations to you Dennis, keep it up. And thanks to my guys for making things happen.

Every wensday I mow 15 in about 6 hrs. This includes some hedge trimming and general maintenance. These 15 are all in the same gated community. Thursday I have to do some traveling between jobs. Last thursday I did 17 in roughly 10+ hours. I was pretty wipped that day. This thursday I only had to do 8. Started late and got home early.

Congrats on your record Dennis. It ain't easy in this heat. Thankfully it is cooling down this week.

These numbers you guys are posting are remarkable. I can do 4 a day @ 1.5 hours per location and that's plenty. By 2 PM I'm headed for the showers.

I do not solo to often but this summer I had a no show and did not want to combine my crews so I went out by myself after 2 hours of trying to get the guy in to work. I did 15 lawns all of them 35,000 sq ft to 50,000 sq ft. After being in the trade as long as I have I find when I do work on my own I tend to go after my big lawns since they have much less trimming then say going after 25 smaller lawns. This year our company has hit 60 lawns a day on our best days thatís 2 crews of 2 going at the same time but it is nice dent in the list.

When I worked for some one else in the past my best day was 60 lawns as a 4-man crew. My partner and his brother have been bringing in numbers of 40 lawns in a day as a pair they do all my smaller lawns. But what is impressive is they only got a 21-inch mower and one 44-inch lazer.

Not to be nosey but give us an idea of revenue for that day. If you averaged 35 bucks each well that's 665 gross. Pretty good solo. When I was into the mowing real heavy, our big day of the week would be around 1500 bucks and I would shell out 250 in labor and fuel. That was two employees at 7 bucks an hour for 10-12 hours.

Congrats on you're record.

Down here in the Sunshine State about the best you can get for a 12k SF lawn is $25. Most are around $22 each depending on the amount of trimming and edging involved. Half acre lawns will fetch $30-$35 on average. Some of the LCO's here (not me) are doing 1 acre lawns for $40. It's a tough market to operate in here in Florida. Plenty of poor people willing to work for very little, and a lot of retired people taking advantage of the low pricing.

The gross revenue for the day was in the $450 range. Not bad for Florida, but low for many areas of the country.
