you can do a search and get tons on info on this........but......

I charge $66 per yard installed, barring any special situations, like very long distances to move mulch, etc....

I charge more to weed and to edge.......

Also, a consideration to this is what kind of mulch is going down. Some hardwoods are quite a bit more than others. This (by the yard) is about the best way to do it, though.

My pricing varies depending on if the area is packed with plants or wide open, how far do I have to wheelbarrow the mulch, and of course pricing for the type of mulch they want. A good general rule of thumb I use is to multiply material cost x 2.3. Example 5 yards of dyed hardwood @ $28.00 per yard= $322.00. Hope this helps.

I charge $75 per yard and pick up mulch for $22 per yard. I really dont like doing mulch, I find it is really labor intensive and the money isn't that good. I will probably raise prices to close to 100 per yard. Joel

$75 a yard (100 sq ft) for edging and refreshing an existing bed
$100 a yard (100 sq ft) for new beds

Double shredded hardwood costs just over $9 a yard.

If the client wants colored or cypress the extra per yard charge is added to the base rate. ($14-$24 a yard)

$65 per yard here, I pay $19 a yard. Not a bad money maker for us, one guy busting butt can do 2 yds an hour, not much involved, shovel, rack & wheelbarrow.

Please explain the difference between a new bed and an existing bed..............

New bed is stripping the existing turf off and putting a 5-6" cut edge.
Existing bed is putting a 5-6" cut edge on the existing perimeter. This keeps the mulch from cascading down and over into the turf.
We use full steel strap nursery spades or King of Spades and keep the shovel edge filed daily. The extra $25 for 100sqft more than covers skimming off the turf. On new beds we are also typically installing plant material and recover even more profit from the plant install.
We mulch to a depth of 3". Turn and smooth old mulch, add new to the 3" depth.
