I have a 2000 F250 sd 4x4 blah blah blah. The rear seal is leaking and I need to get it fixed. My question is should I try to fix this myself or let a pro fix it?
On an older truck I try it but I'm afraid my hammer to it, guess at torque settings, method might be a bit risky for this rear end$$$. has anyone ever changed this seal and if so how difficult is it

Its an easy fix IF you have the socket and means to remove the nut that secures the yoke to the pinion shaft. If ya dont, then its easier to buy the seal and have a shop do it.

Also purchase a HAYNES or a CHILTONS manual for that model truck, it has the togue settings and step by step instructions with pictures. Labor at most dealerships are 40 bux and up an hour so the cost of the manual is cheap

Thanks for the info. Its fixed! I had a little shop put the seal in they only charged $100 bucks. The other places I had called wanted 175 to 195 plus the seal I think it was a good deal and the shop appreciated the business.

Glad to hear its fixed! They can be easy, but again, one in ten is B!@#%! Also glad you found a good independant shop to deal with.
