Very few people knew I had a prototype Hustler Trimstar all season. My job was to put some hours on it and field test it.

1st impressions were its a very heavy built machine. Leave it to Hustler to build a small w/b tank. It was their first attempt at a pistol grip hydro. Yes it does come with the H-bar, but since some companies want pistol grips they are trying to accomodate them also. I field tested the pistol grip model.

There were some pro's and con's to this machine. Rest assured everything I could tell them on both sides I did. I will get into those later.

This is a 3 blade (12" blade) 36" w/b with the new 15 hp twin kawi. Its a beast of a motor and it very rough high conditions you didn't even hear the motor change sounds.

I used the machine with mulch kit installed and also side discharge.

15 hp Kawi twin. More power than it needs, but it is nice having it. This is the quietest motor I have ever heard. No earplugs at wide open and can still carry on a conversation.

One great thing is the trim side overhang for a 36". Most if not all 36" mowers have the deck even with the tires. You can really get close with this deck.

Did you cut any Lush Turf w/it...How did those 3/12" blades perform compared to a 2 blade/36"....Was there a Mulch Kit ?

Finally someone can post their testing results. It must be ready for production if Hustler gave the go ahead to post results. Thanks a million in advance. Here are my questions.
1. How did it cut WITH the mulch kit
1a. in morning wet grass where grass is normal cutting height? Did it clog up much.
1b. in morning wet grass where grass is higher than normal?
1c. in dry grass?
1d. was the cut a smooth looking yard with hardly any strands of tall grass left?

2. You mention you didn't need to wear ear plugs. How loud was the motor compared to some other type of lawn equipment.
