I know the subject of deck mowers has been beat to death but,I was just wondering if any one on the board uses the Toro 32" fixed deck with the B&S 10.5 I/C (I believe it is a 10.5 but I may be wrong ).The one I was looking at was a single belt model, plain jane with Manuel blade engagment. It's not as big or as heavily built as the bigger units (like my 44" Toro) the handle bars are a smaller diameter and the tires are a smaller size plus the single belt. The reason for just a 32 versus 36 or bigger is it has to fit through small gates and i want productivity in those gated yards. Anyways is the quality of cut any good? How well does it bag? Any problems with the unit? Ect,Ect,Ect.I know I should demo the unit first, but that's outta the question. The local dealer would not participate in something like that.Price was $1800
Thanks ,

I know a guy that had one for same gate reason. He hated it, he complained that the quality of cut was less than what he had become use to with his 44" proline.

I have owned one for the past 3 years and where i live it is usefull to get into the gates. However it cuts like garbage, what happens is that you want to bang out these yards as fast as you can so you grab the 32 but if you look at it by the time you pull this thing off your trailer and get it back in you saved only a couple of min vs the 21.For good size lawns the 36 cuts better and for the smaller grounds the 21 does a cleaner job.I believe in a quality cuts.
I see we have a VanHalen fan here. They never should have parted ways with Sammy.

I'd like to see David Lee Roth come back so these guys can do a "Geezers" tour. Like The Who, Kiss, Black Sabbath..........

I bought a 32" Toro Pro Line with 12.5 Kohler five years ago.It has floating deck and belt drive. This unit uses two belts one for tranny and one for the deck. Cuts and mulches good but have never bagged with it. I don't know what these guys are using as a means of comparison when they say the cut is no good. But I will agree that a 36" is more productive. I like the 32" cut better than my 44". Just remember the smaller the deck the better the cut. Well unless your on a DC with a 18,000+ blade tip speed.
I bought the 32" my second year to replace 3 slower 21" machines and now use it for a backyard mower only. I refuse to take on jobs needing to be push mowed. Furthermore this machine has never bogged out or shut down in thick, wet, or tall grass. It has broken down on a job only once due to a drive belt that snapped from old age. You can buy mine with only 700hrs on it for $1,300.00 jungle wheels and spare belts & blades included.

I laughed when I saw your name. We use that name for our paintball team.
To me 1800. is just tomuch .You might try
making what you need or buying heavy duty
used.A snapper rear engine rider 30 inch
will cut well if you setit up right.
Spent a lot o time on one .You can pick
up an old one for 2to4 hundred.

Thanks for all the replies everyone.
Ortusa what deck are you refering too( as larwence had posted)? The 32" fixed deck with two blades or the 32" floating with the single blade?
Moonarrow i did have a stealth for a month or so trust me i wont have another one.I took the stealth i had back after some serious problems.
Stinger its nice to see that you had good results from your Toro. And yes i agree that a 36 would be more productive but Iv got those darn gates that a 36 just wont fit through.
AWM believe it or not my first year I had a snapper rider with the 31 deck, and after using a mid size walk behind compared to a lawn tractor there is no comparison.Blade changes are much easier.I know as for production that a walk behind is way better than a ryder ( unless maybe a zero turn )
Off subject Long live "old school !". Van hallen isn't the same without David Lee Roth or even Sammy Hagar.I will still go see the reunion tour though
Thanks again for all the replies.I'm still undecided for a good mower for those gated yards
Thanks,
Crash
I had to laugh when I saw his signature.

i use a 32' EXMARK not a bad machine, i shopped around for a while before i bought mine.apparently they are the only company that equips their 32's with Kawasaki engines (12.5).that's what sold me.i almost bought a bobcat but they use Tecumseh.i had an older examark 32 with the 8 hp briggs but it didn't handle the high stuff.i would go with the kawi.i think i payed $1500.

The Toro, that the guy I mentioned earlier in this thread had, was a 32" floating deck. This has been about two years ago, so it was likely a 1997 or 1998 model. This could have been before any Exmark decks found their way under any Toro carriers. He complained that it did not have enough lift to lift the grass pushed over by the front casters. I recall he complained that it did not have enough power in taller grass. I think he thought alot had to do with only having one blade.
A few have mentioned the prices of these smaller mowers being so high. I agree, this is why I still use a Troybuilt 33" instead of trading it in for a Toro or Exmark. I did trade my old one in on the newer deck design when they came out a few years ago. I originally paid $1,300 for my first one in 1992. Traded it for like $900 on a new one for $1,100 that cut so much better than the old mulch only deck. Now, you can get them from Troybuilt online for about $1,000 last time I looked. If you are like me and only do a few gated backyards, then I think the Troybuilt is a good choice in this topic.
Snapper makes a 36, and 32 hydro. I have been using the 52 hydro with 16hp Vangard for 7yrs now. Ive only replaced 1 belt. I use it with a velke and its been great. I also have 52 scag but its hard to beat snappers loop steering, I know scag makes a 33 hydro but they run around 3900 , I checked out a 36 snapper with 14kaw 4200. Man everything is so costly now. Just 7yrs ago i paid 4200 for my 52 snapper. Also the snappers have a great cut.

I was posting to a Great Dane Gateway mower thread and I found on a price sheet that Great Dane makes a 32" HYDRO walk behind with 8.5hp for $1,999.00 up to 12.5 hp for $2,469.00. Seemed like a fair price for a hydro unit inplace of a grear drive unit.
They also make a 36" Hydro at $2,380 - $2,645, 12.5 hp to 14 hp.
Atleast you didn't use the abbreviation for that one album, "For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge".
I was born to be off-topic.

Who the HELL is Van Halen?????
That band SUX with Gary Sharone on lead vocals.
The band shouldn't even be called Van Halen anymore.
Eddie Van Halen totally let his ego get to him with his last reincarnation of the band. Record sales sux for Van Halen 3. The only reason that record sold was because suckers like myself who have been big fans of the band for years were interested in hearing the new material.
Last I heard, David Lee Roth was supposed to be back in the band again for their next album.
Course Sammy Hagar seems to still be smoken with his solo carrer. He's got a great new album out called TEN 13 and has been on tour now for the past two months.
EDDIE VAN HALEN SUX. I'LL NEVER BUY ANOTHER ONE OF YOUR RECORDS AGAIN!!!!!!!!!
