Did you just replace the punp or has this machine just started doing the problem you are descxribing?

If you just replaced the pump, it sounds like it may be a tooth off on timing. Too much fuel. not enough air.

Is this a common problem is this machine have a 3 cylinder diesel or 310 Backhoe ?

What you described is the same problem we have with our 310 Deere it was suggested we rebuild the pump. Supposidly this is a real common problem there is some kind of rubber diaphram that breaks in the pump so it will idle but won't rev up just dies.

Take the pump off and have it checked over it probably will need rebuilding you may want to pop the injectors out and have them tested too.
