what do you guys think about the home depot echo backpack blower pb260l for$279 and the straight trimmer echo at home depot for $199? Also, what's the advantage of a 2 cycle mower engine?????

NNOOooo! If that's the one I'm thinking of, it's just a handheld blower mounted to a backpack frame!! Don't waste your money.
For $200-250 you can get a nice commercial quality backpack blower with a 40cc engine on ebay.

This is the same as the one you're looking at:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=71274&item=4333673277&rd=1
It's only a 25cc engine. That's the same as the Craftsman handhelds.
If you search for "backpack blowers" on eBay, you'll see plenty of much better deals. Good luck.

gogetter has the right idea, I always check ebay before I buy anything, I actually bought the Echo 260l and I love it, has all the power you want and I got it off Ebay for $186, almost a hundred cheaper...good luck

You can get a decent trimmer at HD. We use the Echo SRM-230s and they have been great. HD is about $40 cheaper than the mower shop and open 24 hours.
