i was in Tampa sat. and saw at a apartment complex that was being mowed and the guys had 2 black ford excursions with 2 black 40-50' Hallmark trailers. they must make a lot of cash for having that. anyone ever see anything like it before.

Nope, can't say that I have seen a 40-50' Hallmark trailer

it was 1 1/2 times the lenght of the excursions so whatever that is

Then is was a 12'-16' maybe a 20' and that is a very common size and siight in this business so nothing special about it. As to 40'-50' that is what length Tractor Trailers are.... ;)

40'-50' is FREAKING HUGE :dizzy: theres no way in hell an excursion could pull that with a conventional hitch setup, must have been 20-25 feet at most

So because they had Excursions means they are making a lot of money???

Ever see the commercial with the guy that is showing off his house, car, inground pool, etc. and he says " and how do I afford it all? I'm in debt up to my eyeballs!".
Not sure what the commercial is even for, but his words would describe a lot of LCO's.

Hi gogetter,

Very good point.

Sam Walton used to drive in his beat up pickup truck even when he was a millionaire. You can read about him in his book Made in America. Great story.

One of my friends response to that would be "fake it till you make it!"

don't you know how much cocaine you can hual in those hualmark's.
you are not questioned about visiting alot of homes each day?
but the $5000.00 mowing might spark some interest :)

Another LCO in my neighborhood has a brand new Dodge pickup, new trailer complete with new Toro ZTR, Exmark Viking, Toro 21", 2 new trimmers, new blower (by now you know he just started his biz) and new edger.

I talked to him the other day, he has 5 residential customers, quarter-acre or less.

As Andre Agassi said, "Image is Everything"

Unless you can't afford it...

Then everyone would call them "scrubs".

I heard somewhere that "it is not was you earn....but what you don't spend" that makes you wealthy.....

They are probably dealing drugs out of the trailer and the mowing is just a cover.

Personally I don't believe in spending all the money on all that nice stuff. It can hurt you by showing your customers that you charge too much and have too much money sitting around.

Or it can help, showing people that you do very well.

Kind of silly with the Fords if you ask me!

There's a LCO around here, I guess that they're big, maybe not. They're running 2 brand new F-450 duallies (pickup beds) with ALL the fixin's. You know the ones, the $60,000 truck that is used by an old man who wouldn't even haul his pet poodle in it. They're pulling 16-18 foot open landscape trailers, plenty of shiny new equipment on em'. I don't know, I like their setup, but come on, body kits with oversized foglights on a lowered work truck? I guess that they don't haul any 'real-mans' gold around. ;)

They obviosly have no common sense.

Besides, every little ding, dent, and patch of soil shows on black.

These guys are playing with bank money and will be toast soon.

I dont know about you but when I had my f-250 which is just like the excursion it was 25 ft long so you multiply that by 1.5 you get 37.5 ft. Not 12-16ft or 20ft. I dont even think that a small pickup is less than 15 ft long.

That's cool. I had thought about using SUV's instead of the trucks. You can sit 8 guys in comfort. They obviously are good for advertizing since no-one does it. I'm sure the trailers were close to 40'. We used to run a 35' trailer pulled by an f350 super cab 7 man crew we had more equipment on that truck than most companies have in total. (it wan't my business, it is where I started in teh biz.)

Hey I have a ford crew cab (full doors not half doors) and my wife has a expedition, but we are not at all rich. We need these cars. Three kids and a dog. Games to go to and such. But I love both of my trucks. Never never will I get a mini van. You should take a picture next time you see those dudes mowing lawns will their SUVs :D
