Ok, I was reading the results that were compiled and listed in the OccupationaL Outlook Handbook and personally i think they are a bit off. What i would like to do is take a poll of the annual income of all the members of lawnsite.com. I am trying to create an average of the income earned from professionals within this industry. This is to include only the amount of money that you payed yourself for services rendered.

Are we talking calendar year or fiscal year because my fiscal year starts March 1 ends Feb 29.

bcsteel,

I guess for those of us using fiscal year cycle go by that, however I use calander year, but either way as long as the count is for 365 days i think the average income would be relatively accurate

mmlawn,

I forget that some of us are still working this time of year. :D I would love to have everyones numbers from this season, however in situations like yours, last years numbers would work too.

First year in business. Hung my shingle out in March. Got my first account on 12 March. Did not pay myself anything until 01 June. Since 01 June I have paid myself $10,000 net and about 3,500 in taxes.

So for a full calendar year I expect that I would net about $28-30K. I don't think that is too bad for year 1 as a solo. Got plans for expansion for next year and bringing a couple of guys in to help. Already have the equipment and getting there on accounts.

So far for the year I am at 43K Gross. Still cutting and going strong here due to recent rain trend and 80 degree plus temps. I am part time. Only a weekend warrier. Getting tough though to keep up during the shorter days...
