View Full Version : Equipment listed in LS member signatures

Some / most of the lists are presumably for multiple crews.
However, no crew info has been given on any sig that I have EVER taken the time to glance at!

Back in school, the profs would preach about how we, as future corporate drones, were "the greatest assets"

I believe the term was
Human Capital

Just wondering...

i'm going to start listing the tools in my shop on mine... This might take a page or three..

First they need to make it more than 500 characters in the signatures. I got more equipment that what I have listed. At least twice whats listed.

I need to start listing all of mine, too. I just feel inadepquate without having all my shovels and rakes on here, too. I'll even list some of my rakes that I have with missing tines. I don't use them much, but I'll always have them as extras or for when I "expand" and hire more people. Geez, I can put my new broom and a couple of 1/2" wrenches on here now, too.

Exact reason I have the signature I do, what else needs to be said???

I agree that sometimes the equipment listed is a waste but sometimes it's nice to see at a quick glance what the main equipment guys are using.

I think the point is, does the guy that lists 8 mowers 4 trucks, 3 trailers have 28 employees or 3.

I have more that 10 mowers and it's normally only my wife cutting. I only help when she lets me. Truth be told I am more of a collecter than a cutter.

I think Runner by far has the best signature line I've seen. Without a doubt.

personally, i think that listing equip unde the sig line is a good idea, it gives others a better point of view on what another is saying.

Honestly, I never read the signatures with equipment in them, and mostly I don't care. Why do I need to know what people have or are using? I think being able to list that in your profile might be better, along with employees if desired. But with some of the lengths of the signatures, it gets ridiculous. With all the equipment threads around here, there is more than an abundance of information and opinions about equipment.

It all seems superfluous to me.

It seems that people don't seem to put as much (pride? loyalty?) in their employees as their equipment.

Just a weird, off-hand observation...

Thanks for the replies.

The employees that I used to have over the years, they had no pride in their work, therefore I had no pride in them.

I used to take them on fishing trips, buy lunch every day, have bonuses for the week / work performed, have weekend trips to the casino, nothing ever seemed to make a difference, other than just more loss of profit for me, so, back to being solo.

LOL! Now THAT'S what I'M talking about. It's just about like that for some on here. They list every last pece of equipment they own. We even have wheelbarrows, trashpumps, and any other kind of stuff that picked up at an auction listed. I just can't see the need or use for it. Very seldomly is it necessary to know what all one is using to answer a post.

That is why I said fececiously earlier that I would list all my broken handled shovels and rakes, too - just in case I fix them someday.
Now don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking it, I can see, especially among some of these younger guys where there would be a pride thing in that new 21" Toro they have, let alone a purchase like a wb, and but I certainly agree that it would go better in the profile than in the sig. line.

I agree, we need a place to list every little piece of equipment in the profile. Yes I am a younger guy. I am proud of the fact that I have bought all this equipment since I was 13. Instead of blowing the money on stupid stuff. Most teens these days don't have that work hard attitude. So for those who have the work hard attitude its a way from us to show it off.

My signature would be more like this if I didn't have my equipment

potential signature lines like this is why I opted to not display the signatures, who cares what you have, and I don't really care if you care what I have :dizzy:

It's kinda like braggin to all the others when you list all sorts of stuff. I'm solo and I probably don't really need all this equipment but it sure is fun having it all. I never get rid of mowers (trade or sell). I'd rather keep the old mowers when I get a new one. The 48" mower listed only gets used in 1 yard and the 36" only gets used in 2 yards (because of gate sizes). As long as the equipment is running I'm going to keep it. I also think that if you are new to this site but not new to the business, the equipment list lets people know that. :p
